In the Beginning…..

 

I am mentoring a young man and he asked me-“where do you get your ideas from?”.  And my  answer was” you work at your craft and then after one trillion billion doodles and sketches-you realize that the ideas flow and begin to formulate into your own way of doing things”.. One naturally gravitates toward drawing certain things in a personal way and eventually it becomes the style/trademark of the individual.

This painting is expressing thoughts, forms and colors all evolving into an artistic voice. In my personal experience, I can  not do things like other people even when I try! Good thing I like being me.

“Burdened”

 

The times must be getting to me! There is so much going on in the world and I have no control over any of it. I watch and it weighs on my spirit. Hence this painting-10x14 on paper….

‘Protect’

 

Titling this one ‘Protect’. I see the orbs as life/wisdom and nature and humankind as protectors. Third out of four of 11”x14” acrylic on canvases.

 The second of this mini-series of four. Hopefully, it speaks for itself  because I am not very descriptive today! Enjoy….

Holding Onto Memories

 

This is the first piece of a four part 11”x14” series. I think I have one more presized canvas after these four pieces and then my plan is to just do small cradle boards. I love to paint and will continue to do so but am not ‘pounding the pavement’ anymore.

It is fun on these small pieces to just let them happen and see what emerges. This piece I find delightful and engaging so in my world, ‘it is a success’! What memories has the character created and collected in her life….? Who knows?

“Pull Up A Chair”

 

This piece chose its name very early. I just saw a lot of chair forms on my scribbled canvas. Conversation is certainly the order of the day. Anything else I might add might be a bit ‘preachy’, so let it suffice to say-talk to each other.

This is 3’x4’, so it is a good size piece. I have four 9x12 canvases waiting for me and am looking forward to some quicker finishes.

Great Show!

 

Had a fantastic turn out for First Friday in downtown Knoxville.  It is so gratifying to have my work out for others to see. Enjoyed talking to all the people who came and am now energized for this coming year…. Sigh, I loved it!
